Meditation: Are You Striving or Flowing?

Friday, March 7, 2025

Okay, let’s talk about the difference between striving and flowing.

Striving feels like pushing a boulder uphill, constantly exhausted but never getting where you need to go. It’s the “If I don’t do it, it won’t happen” mentality. It’s rooted in fear, pressure, and the need to prove yourself. And let me tell you—striving is not Kingdom.

Matthew 6:33 gives us the formula for excellence: “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” That means when you prioritize God—His presence, His voice, His way—everything else falls into place. Excellence comes when you are aligned with God, not when you are burning out for God.

If your work feels heavy, if your days feel rushed, if your heart feels anxious—ask yourself: Am I striving or am I flowing? Striving says, “I have to make this happen.” Flowing says, “God, I trust You to lead.”

When you are flowing, there is grace in the grind. You still work hard, but it comes from a place of peace and purpose, not pressure and performance. You are not hustling for validation—you are working from the overflow of God’s love and strength.

Today, I want you to pause before you start your work. Pray this simple prayer: “God, help me to flow in Your grace and not strive in my strength.” Give God permission to lead, and watch how much lighter your work feels. You were not created to do it all—you were created to do what God has called you to do, with excellence and ease.
