Executing with Excellence: From Force to Flow

Monday, March 3, 2025 Dreamer's Prayer Call

Hey Dreamers! This week’s prayer call was all about shifting from that hustle-hard, grind-it-out energy to something way better: a life where excellence isn’t about force—it’s about flow. You know, the kind of flow where you’re not dragging yourself through the day on empty, but where you’re moving with purpose, grace, and maybe even a little bit of joy.

We talked about how the world keeps telling us to push harder, do more, and basically run ourselves into the ground in the name of excellence. But God’s version of excellence is different. It’s not about how hard you push but about how deeply you’re connected. Excellence in the Kingdom is like finding the perfect rhythm—where your work feels less like a grind and more like grace.

I shared a little bit about my own struggle with this. Y’all, last week, I had to fight for my stillness. I was chasing stillness like it was running away from me, and God had to remind me, excellence isn’t something you force—it’s something you flow in. And let me tell you, when you’re in flow, work stops feeling like this heavy thing and starts feeling like worship.

We hung out in Romans 12:2, which says, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” You know what that means, right? It means we don’t have to play by the world’s rules of hustle and burnout. God’s way is more about rest, peace, and letting Him set the pace. It’s about working from a place of overflow, not overwhelm. Can I get an amen?

One of the big takeaways was about surrender. And I know, surrender can sound like giving up, but it’s not. It’s more like a divine “You Got This” moment with God. It’s like saying, “Okay, God, I trust Your ideas over my good ideas. I want God ideas.” Because let’s be real, there’s a big difference between a good idea and a God idea. And that difference? It’s usually filled with peace.

We also got into Proverbs 16:3: “Commit to the Lord whatever you do, and he will establish your plans.” It’s funny how we often try to establish our own plans first and then ask God to bless them, right? Like, “Hey God, I’ve got this whole thing figured out—can You just give it a little holy stamp of approval?” But true excellence is born out of surrender, not control. When we let go, we make room for God to do what only He can do.

I know it’s not easy. I’ve had those days where I’m like, “Okay, God, but can You tell me what the plan is? Maybe just a little hint? Like, today or tomorrow? Should I pack a bag or nah?” But God is always like, “Sis, relax. I got this.” And the truth is, He can do more with our open hands than we could ever do with our tight fists.

So here’s my challenge for you this week: Take a few minutes each day to just be still with God. I mean it—no phone, no multitasking, no “I’ll pray while I’m checking emails.” Just sit with Him and ask, “Is this how You want me to move today?” And if He says, “Not really,” be willing to pivot. Sometimes God’s version of excellence looks less like taking on another project and more like taking a nap. It might look like putting down your to-do list and picking up a book, or stepping away from your desk and taking a walk.

And if you’re feeling brave, write down one thing you’ve been trying to control. It could be a project, a relationship, or even your own expectations. Pray over it, and then let it go. I’m serious—sometimes I write it down, and I’ll even burn it (safely, of course). Because sometimes you need to see that thing go up in smoke to really let it go.

I want to hear from you! What does excellence look like for you in this season? Have you been more in force or in flow? Drop a comment and let’s chat about it. You never know—your story might be the encouragement someone else needs.

I’m cheering you on, believing with you, and praying that as you lean into God’s rhythm, you’ll find yourself in that sweet spot where excellence just flows. Keep dreaming, keep showing up, and keep moving forward with excellence. 💛
