Week 3
Obedience
Obedience. That word alone probably made some of us want to suddenly “pray about it” for six months instead of just doing what God said.
Let’s be honest—obedience isn’t always fun. We love the idea of trusting God… until He asks us to do something that feels uncomfortable, inconvenient, or like a straight-up invasion of our personal plans. We’re all about “God’s will be done” until He tells us to let go of something we’re attached to. We’re quick to say, “Lord, send me,” but when He actually sends us, we’re like, “Wait, do You mean right now? Like… immediately?” We love to declare, “I’ll follow You anywhere,” until He calls us somewhere we don’t understand.
The truth is, we like control. We like knowing what’s next. We like having a plan, a timeline, a backup strategy. But faith doesn’t work that way. Faith requires trust, and trust requires obedience—even when we don’t understand.
This week, we’re locking in on obedience. Not the cute, comfortable, “God, I’ll obey if I agree” type of obedience. Real obedience. The kind that moves even when it doesn’t make sense. The kind that follows God when it disrupts our comfort. The kind that surrenders our plans in exchange for His. The kind that doesn’t need all the answers before saying yes.
No more delayed obedience. No more overthinking. No more stalling. This is the week we say YES.
When God Says Move, Move
Genesis 12:1 – "The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you.’"
God told Abraham to leave his home, his family, everything he had ever known—to go somewhere unknown with no address, no final destination, no itinerary, and no map. And Abraham went. No stalling. No negotiating. No “God, can You confirm this one more time?” Just obedience.
Let’s pause for a second and be honest with ourselves. Would you have done that? Imagine God telling you, “Pack up your life and start walking. I’ll show you where you’re going later.” For a lot of us, that would have been the start of a full-blown negotiation session with God.
“Okay, but what’s the timeline?”
“Can You tell me a little more about where I’m going first?”
“Can we do a trial period for 30 days and then I decide if I want to go?”
We want all the details before we move. But here’s the thing: obedience will always require faith. If you knew every detail in advance, it wouldn’t be obedience—it would be agreement.
A lot of us are waiting for more clarity when God is waiting for obedience. The truth is, most of the time, we already know what He told us to do. The real question isn’t "Did God speak?" The real question is "Are we willing to move?"
What if Abraham had said no? What if he had waited until he felt ready? What if he had told God he needed more time to think about it? He would have missed the promise.
What’s the thing you’ve been putting off? The thing you keep saying you’ll do when the timing is right? The thing you’ve been “praying on” but God has already given you the answer? The timing is now. Move.
